I’m a human-centered designer and researcher interested in how things work, how people feel, and how we might make everyday experiences better.

👋 Hi, I’m Amelea!

My work centers on understanding people -their needs, behaviors, motivations, and experiences - and helping organizations turn those insights into products, services, programs, and experiences that better serve the people they're designed for.

With a background in design research, community engagement, strategy, and inclusive design, I'm drawn to work that brings people together, uncovers opportunities, and creates meaningful change. I build programs, lead teams, and manage the operations of moving ideas into action.

My Approach

I believe the best solutions emerge through curiosity, empathy, and collaboration. That means asking thoughtful questions, listening deeply, looking for patterns, and paying attention to the people closest to the work. It also means building on strengths, learning from lived experience, and creating opportunities for people to shape what comes next.

Whether I'm conducting research, facilitating a workshop, or helping a team navigate uncertainty, my goal is to create greater understanding, uncover new possibilities, and move toward solutions that are useful, inclusive, and built to last.

And while I take the work seriously, I don't believe we have to take ourselves too seriously. Creativity, playfulness, and delight have a way of opening doors, building trust, and helping people imagine new possibilities.

Here’s my career condensed to a few bullet points.

Outside of work, I’m a mom to one sweet daughter and three charming step-sons. I live on a small lake in the Midwest, where I love spending time with our pups and friends alike, listening to good music and sharing snacks for dinner. You can nearly always find me flipping through design magazines with a good cup of coffee.

My family!

Our puppies.

Where I always am.

Just think what we could do, if we do it together
