I’m a human-centered designer and maker interested in how things work, how people feel, and how we might make everyday experiences better.

I spend my time supporting experiences, products, services, and ways of working that bring people closer - to each other, to place, and to their best selves.

I’m also a small business owner and working artist, because I’ve never believed we have to be just one thing.

👋 Hi, I’m Amelea!

I build programs, lead teams, and ask a lot of questions to help people do their best work together. With a background in community engagement, strategy, and inclusive design, I'm drawn to work that turns complexity into clarity and ideas into action.

Whether I'm helping teams navigate change, bringing people together, or shaping experiences alongside the people they're meant to serve, I care deeply about creating environments where people feel like they belong and can do their best work. I believe the best solutions are shaped with people, not simply for them.

That same spirit of making and connection shows up in Lovebug, our family ceramics studio. Alongside my daughter and mother, I hand-paint colorful, one-of-a-kind pieces designed to bring a little delight to everyday life. You can find us at local art fairs, talking with neighbors and sending tiny bits of colorful creative joy out into the world.

My Approach

I tend to approach problems with equal parts optimism and practicality. I ask a lot of questions, look for patterns, and pay attention to the people closest to the work. With experience across social work, small business, nonprofit leadership, and design research, I've learned that meaningful change rarely comes from a single brilliant idea - it comes from curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to try, learn, and adjust along the way.

I love connecting the dots - moving between big-picture possibilities and the details that make them real; dreaming up what's possible, then figuring out how to work with the people around me to make it all possible.

Here’s my career condensed to a few bullet points.

Outside of work, I’m a mom to one sweet daughter and three charming step-sons. I live on a small lake in the Midwest, where I love spending time with our pups and friends alike, listening to good music and sharing snacks for dinner. You can nearly always find me flipping through design magazines with a good cup of coffee.

My family!

Our puppies.

Where I always am.

Just think what we could do, if we do it together
